Quai has recently started its "Iron Age" with a blockchain used for testing (Testnet). Basically it has all the rules that the main Quai blockchain (Mainnet) will have, but its assets and tokens don't have monetary value. Anyone can develop, play and experiment with no fear of losing money. Koala Wallet supports Testnet to incentivize learning and growth of the ecosystem as a whole. Here's how you can get some Testnet Quai coins for free!
- After enabling the Quai Testnet wallet in Koala, open it and copy your "Receive" address
- Return to the main Quai wallet screen and tap the "Faucet" button
- This will open the official Quai testnet faucet page. Paste the address you just copied on the address field and press "Request QUAI"
- There's no step 4. A small amount of coins will soon appear in your wallet for you to test and play with to your heart's content!
Being that the purpose of a testnet is to experiment and find problems, all development teams are eager to find and fix bugs. If you found any issues with the testnet faucet or the Quai network in general, please report it to the Quai team directly. If you found any issues with Koala Wallet, please report it via a support ticket with the button at the top right corner of this page, or on our Discord channel.
Important Information
Koala Wallet's Testnet wallet has a different address than the future Quai Mainnet wallet. Testnet and Mainnet addresses are valid on both blockchains. Once Mainnet is live, always double-check that you're using the correct address. Never send real Quai to your Testnet address and vice-versa. While it's possible to retrieve those funds, it's not an immediate or simple process.
If sent to exchanges or wallets that don't support Testnet, testnet Quai will not be visible by those services. It's not possible to exchange testnet coins to mainnet coins.
Testnet coins are to be used just for experimenting. They have no monetary value and should not be accepted for payments. Please do not abuse the Testnet faucet or hoard Testnet coins.
